The HTTP Filter DLL c:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_filter.dll failed to load

Problem

Microsoft ASP.NET 2.0 failed to start when you update Microsoft Windows patches. You will get the following error messages in the event logs.

	Event Type:	Error
	Event Source:	W3SVC-WP
	Event Category:	None
	Event ID:	2214
	Date:		4/21/2008
	Time:		10:45:58 AM
	User:		N/A
	Description:
	The HTTP Filter DLL c:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_filter.dll 
	failed to load.  The data is the error.
	

Solution

1. Login as "Administrator".
2. Go to "Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs"
3. Click "Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1"
4. Click "Change" button and repair procedure will start
5. Now ASP.NET 2.0 should be repaired
